On the 31st of July, I was flying to Bangalore from Delhi and then onto Hyderabad on the 1st of August before returning to Delhi on the 1st evening. Having a vision impairment, I had asked both Jet Lite and Spice Jet with whom I was flying for assistance. I must commend both the Airlines for the wonderful help they provided me . An executive from the Airlines was deputed to be with me right from the check in till the time I boarded the aircraft.
This was indeed wonderful support service offered by the airlines. I guess , people with vision impairments can now look forward to more enjoyable and trouble free air travel in the times to come.

Head On Action
India has signed the UN Convention on Rights for Persons with Disability. No one seems to have a clue on when India will ratify it. The convention will become effective only if at least 20 countries ratify it. As of today only Jamaica and Hungary have ratified the convention.
I believe that the convention will move forward in India only if the disabled people of the country get down to action. The disabled people need to get organised put pressure on the Govt. to ratify the convention in the first place and then to implement it. Else the convention will meet with the samd fate that the Persons With Disability has met with.
We must remember that there are millions of disabled people living in the martgins in India. I think there is an urgency to move forward. Every minute is critical for the millions. The leaders in the disability sector need to come together and wage a Nation wide campaign. For the Govt, disability is just another issue.

Looking for the gaps
I'm just taking guard, and surveying the field. As you can see, I love my cricket, I love getting on to the front foot while playing the game of life. I believe in action, quick runs, excitement and lots of fun.
Fun could be music, sports, books, jokes and serious business could be discussing issues related to day-to-day life, disability, politics and religion. In short, I believe in keeping my eyes on the ball.
